Spring One-Acts: Load In!

On Friday, the cast and crew of The Spring One-Acts began setting up the stage, the workshop, and greenroom for the show! The props and costumes crew, known as the "propstumes" or "crops" crew, labeled and arranged the costumes and props in their respective place. It was a lot of work, for the entire cast has certain clothing and other items that they must take with them on stage. The "propstumes" crew must make sure that every cast member has their costumes and props with them on stage.

The stage managers and other cast members began to set up the platform from which the stage managers will be able to call light cues. Since the audience will sit on stage with the performers, the stage managers will need to be able to see the performance so that they can call the cues for the show.

In the shop, Dom and a couple of us began to move the platforms out of the shop and onto the stage. While they were really heavy, we managed to move them! Meanwhile, some of us began to spike and arrange the furniture and larger props in the shop in order to make scene changes happen quicker and efficiently. Now that everything is out of the way, we are headed into Tech Week!

Final Blocking and Load-In prep!

The cast of Small Actors recently finished blocking the last final parts of their play. The scene consists of the cast of It’s Not You, It’s Me and some actors from !Artistic Inspiration. This important scene involves the performance of Romeo and Juliet, the play that performed within Small Actors. We had a lot of fun performing the scene over and over again, making sure to perfect it. Mr. Howard stated that it would be one of the most “memorable moments” for the Spring One-Acts. The cast of It’s Not You, It’s Me also finished blocking the final scenes of the play, while !Artistic Inspiration will finalize their blocking today.

On another note, we unloaded all of our props today! With the show less than a week away, it’s time to get those props ready. The cast made sure to clean the stage, Green Room, and the Workshop in order to prepare for the show. The costumes crew made sure that all costumes were in check while the props crew put all the props near the stage to keep them handy. It also served as a moment for all of us to come together acknowledge all of the work we’ve put into making this show happen. Stay tuned for next week!

Anything Goes: Load-In

Today at load-in, I had fun making the bed for the cabin requiring many feet of tape. I also organized and cleaned the green room to make the space a better place. Load in got me really excited for costumes and I can't wait to try them on!

Today was a big step for the theater department's performance of Anything Goes. There comes a time in the making of a show that makes it feel real; today was that day for me. Seeing the costumes and putting everything in its place made it so powerful. It's thrilling to know that in less than a week you will be putting your heart and soul out to the public, while becoming vulnerable and hoping that people will embrace it as much as you did.

Today was the load in, which I found to be a refreshing change of pace from the tiresome rigor of rehearsal lately. I am on the props crew, so my job today was to paper the tables and figure out a preliminary plan as to what side of the stage props need to be on. I love props crew because of the endless meticulous work involved, such as assigning our many beautiful period luggage pieces to their best-fitting character. Seeing all of our incredible props and costumes gets me so pumped and ready for the following challenging days of tech. I cannot wait to share this stunning show with the community.

'Earnest' Load-In

With the show less than a week away, it’s time to get those props ready! Since the play’s time period takes place in the late 1800s, it was difficult to find age appropriate props. However, the Props Crew did an awesome job with organizing and getting everything on time. Also, the walls and other objects on stage had to be organized and spiked in the Shop to make the set change transition easy.


Meanwhile, the Costume Crew made sure all of the costumes were free from flaws and ready to be worn. Some cast members helped around the stage, making sure everything was on order. The rest of the cast members worked on dialect and ran lines. This was also our first long rehearsal, which lasted six hours in total. Hard work really pays off!
